Magnet Assessment Dates – January 16, 2008 (A-L) or
January 17, 2008 (M-Z)
Eastern Tech’s Magnet
Assessment will be held on two dates.
Students should report according to the first letter of their last
name. On January 16, 2008, (inclement
weather date: January 23), all
students with a last name beginning A-L will be required to attend the
math/language arts assessment held at Eastern Tech. On January 17, 2008, (inclement weather date: January 24), all students with the last
name beginning M-Z will be required to attend the math/language arts assessment
held at Eastern Tech.
A copy of the latest grade 8
report card is required at time of testing.
Students should be
accompanied by at least one parent/guardian.
Students will be notified of test dates/times and location by postal
card in early January.
Priority Placement
According to
Superintendent’s Rule 6130, At the high school level where the number of
qualified applicants exceeds the number of available seats, up to 20% of the
seats may first be filled with candidates who show exceptional commitment and
promise in the specialized program as evidenced by their performance on the
approved entrance criteria. The
remaining seats will be filled using the centralized random lottery selection
process from the remaining pool of qualified applicants. Specifically, students who earn the
highest combined scores on the math, language arts, and essay assessments will
fill 20% of the seats available in a particular career major.
Qualifying for Admission
The applicant must earn 80
points from the stated criteria in order to qualify for admission.

Convert your marking period
grades to points (A=4 pts, B=3 pts, C=2 pts, D=1 pt, E or missing grade=0
pts). Then divide by the number of
