CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT

 

 

Students will acquire the necessary skills and practical experience to be successful in a career in the construction industry.  The skills emphasized will be Carpentry; Plumbing; and Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) with emphasis on the management side of the industry.  Topics will include both commercial and residential construction.  Framing, floors, walls, and roofing will be covered in Carpentry.  Plumbing and HVAC topics will include pipefitting, sheet metal, refrigeration, and basic electric.  All students will learn blueprint reading, estimating, business law, and accounting concepts.  Safety, first aid, and CPR training are also included in the construction management curricula.  Students may participate in a “school to work” program and receive advanced placement in the apprenticeship program with the Associated Builders and Contractors of Maryland (ABC).  College credit is also available to students who successfully complete the program.
